Shandra Is not in the mood to indulge these station personnel. Once she has payment she makes sure the insurance company knows of their schemes to defraud them. She takes Gondi to a planet with three other Q’werna to help with information and communications.
The Q’werna can communicate instantly across the galaxy without any time lag making them highly sought after. All known entities have agreed to protect the Q’werna at all costs. Even those who are not on good terms will band together to hunt down and punish any who harm a Q’werna.
What happens to a Q’werna is instantly known by all Q’werna. Don’t mess with the Q’werna.
The collar worn by the Q’werna is designed by them. Its purpose is to allow them to feel an emphatic connection to sentient beings. This connection keeps them from going into an uncontrollable rage caused by loneliness. If a Q’werna is not in planetary proximity with another Q’werna their brains become unstable and they lose control. Without the collar, they would never have been able to leave their home world and explore the galaxy. If that had happened we would all be poorer for it.
